Each time I watch this scene I change my mind about whether or not Steed really thought there may have been a threat or trap in the chocolates. It seems as though he may, at first, have been genuinely cautious, then realized all was well but kept up the act anyway. Or perhaps he knew all along and really just wanted one of her chocolates.
